The hedgehog packing material was developed as a highly efficient packed bed material of a large specific surface suitable for plastic columns. The hedgehog packing material results in a very high mass transfer at a small pressure drop. The packing material shows excellent liquid distribution characteristics. The strong constructional form is important at large packing heights and/or elevated operation temperatures. Three sizes in diameter are available for different applications.
