The denitrification deep bed filter combines denitrification and deep bed filtration function organically, and is a treatment unit that combines biological denitrification and filtration functions. After being installed in the secondary sedimentation tank,

The denitrification deep bed filter uses 2-3mm quartz sand as the biofilm medium for denitrification organisms, and the filter can ensure that the effluent SS is below 5mg/L. The specific surface area of the 2-3mm medium is relatively large. During the backwash cycle, the filtration area per m2 can ensure the retention of 7.3kg of solid suspended solids. The high solid load greatly prolongs the filtration cycle of the filter and reduces the number of backwash cycles. The denitrification filter
adopts a combination of air and water for backwashing. Backwashing wastewater is generally returned to the front biological treatment unit. Due to the high load retention performance of the filter bed solids, the amount of backwash water used does not exceed 4% of the treatment plant's water volume.
Using an appropriate amount of high-quality carbon source, denitrifying bacteria attached to the surface of quartz sand can convert NOX-N into N to complete the denitrification reaction process. In the denitrification process, due to the continuous reduction of nitrate nitrogen to nitrogen, a large amount of nitrogen will accumulate in the deep bed filter. These gases will cause sewage to bypass the medium, thereby enhancing the contact between microorganisms and water flow and improving filtration efficiency. However, when too many nitrogen bubbles accumulate in the pool, it can cause head loss. At this time, it is necessary to disperse the nitrogen and restore the head several times a day
